- דּוּחֲקָא, דּוּחְקָאch. sam(דוחק, דחק pressure); 1) squeezing, forcing. Targ. Y. Num. 22:24 בד׳ in a narrow place.Pes.14b, a. e. מאי דּוֹחֲקֵיה דר׳וכ׳ what forces R. … (logically) to put it Ḥull.8b ד׳ דסכינא the force of the knife (the blade forcing its way). 2) crowded state, pushing. Ber.6a ד׳ דכלה Ms. M. (ed. ד׳ דהוה בכלה) the pushing at public lectures, v. כַּלָּה. Ib. b, v. אַגְרָא I. 3) oppression, extortion, distress. Targ. Ex. 3:9; a. e.Gitt.45a משום ד׳ דציבורא because the exorbitant price is an extortion of the community. 4) difficulty. Bets.30a דדרו בד׳ (Ms. M. רהקא) a load carried (on ordinary days) with a great effort.
